Home > Calendar > Services & Programs WORSHIP When we come to worship God, we cross the threshold of the secular to the sacred, from the common to the uncommon, from the profane to the holy. We believe that we should worship God as His Word commands us. In worship, we preach the Word of God, we sing hymns which reflect the teachings of the Word of God, and we pray according to the Word of God. Our worship is simple, reverent, and joyful. We strive for excellence in what we do in order to reflect the holiness and majesty of the Lord and we are challenged to improve what we do for His sake. In addition to the many sermons posted on this site, Pastor La Belle's sermons are now being posted on Sermon Audio. Please visit the church home page, sermonaudio.com/riverchan to listen. SERVICES AND PROGRAMS Sunday worship is held in the morning at 10 a.m. and in the evening at 6 p.m. While the morning worship focuses on the preaching of the Word of God, the evening service places an emphasis on Biblical study. There are Christian Education classes for all ages on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. prior to the worship service. Nursery services are provided during the morning worship service. We meet on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. for prayer and have regularly scheduled women's and men's fellowship groups, usually once or twice a month. Our Calvinist Cadet Corps for boys meets every second and third Friday night from 6-8 pm, with various outings scheduled monthly. See Pastor La Belle for more information. Among our community based ministries, we volunteer at the Barnstable County Correctional Facility, holding either a service or a Bible study twice each month; the pastor serves as the Chaplain of the West Barnstable Fire Department, responding to emergency calls as necessary and participating in regularly scheduled training with the Department; and we are seeking to begin a weekly Bible study with the students at the Cape Cod Community College. |
